Arth the meaning Puppet Arts strives to connect with young minds and create diverse, meaningful channels of engagement through puppet arts fused with songs and tales of the everyday man. Arth’s endeavor is to cultivate the imagination and sense of wonder within children through the contemporary practice of puppetry and allow them to access it through community-based workshops and activities.
Founded in 2010, Arth collaborates with professional artists and local partners to organize live performances and workshops in schools, colleges or any other institute willing to participate in stories that matter to the community. In addition to the ongoing performances and workshops, Arth also conducts training programmes during summer holidays for children.
The Founder
Umesh Kumar has an experience of eleven years working in the field of puppetry. He has been trained with Katkatha Puppet Arts to construct and build various types of puppets and masks. His production, ‘The Beautiful Life,’ has been staged in various theatre festivals and toured in schools around Delhi NCR region. Furthermore, he has performed internationally in about seventeen cities and also freelances with one of the leading puppetry troupes in the India-Ishara Puppet Theatre.
